I teach a workshop in south Texas along the gulf of Mexico each year. The sunsets I get to see out over the gulf are a feast for the eyes.

Another little one done in acrylics. Acrylics can be fun if you don't try to make them behave like oil paints. I try to embrace the fact that I can let them set up and get some cleaner and harder edges that sometimes can be challenging with wet oils.

Last April I had the  wondeful opportunity to attend the Plein Air convention in Tucson Arizona. I loved getting the opportunity to paint the Sonoran Desert. This is a little study that I will hopefully work up to a larger piece.

Today was beautiful sunny day after we got a half a foot of fresh snow earlier this week so it meant a perfect day for plein air painting! This was a little study up in the national park at Lilly Lake.

Day 6

Day 5 of the 30 in 30 challenge. When I started this I had the ambitious goal of doing 60 paintings in 30 days however I have come to realize I may have bit off a little more than I can chew. I have several other commitments for galleries and such that requires me to be working on several paintings right now. So I think one little study a day will be a great warm up and be fun but I don't want to sacrifice that quality of my other work right now. Here is today's little study of some colorful flowers. I just love to play with the shapes and colors that I find in florals.

Its about 10 degrees outside and we got 13 inches of snow in Estes Park so I though I would paint some sunny flowers today in the studio.
